  • Overview

    The cause of headaches is complex and there are many types of headaches such as Migraines, Cluster, Tension, Cervicogenic and Sinus. They all have different causes but non are considered normal and should not be ignored or just tolerated with by using medication.

  • Symptoms

    Symptoms of Headaches vary greatly from type to type but most can include:
    – Pain
    – Nausea & Vomiting
    – Headache upon awakening
    – Difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep
    – Chronic fatigue
    – Irritability
    – Disturbed concentration

  • Causes

    Cervicogenic Headaches are caused by dysfunctions with the vertebrae in the cervical spine and is referred to the head. These headaches may be felt in the back, sides and front of the head or in the front of the face or neck. Chronic irritation of the nerve roots between the vertebrae can be caused by changes to the normal curvature of the cervical spine caused by trauma, degenerative arthritis or poor posture. The onset of pain is often acute and may also cause muscle contractions in the neck that can often trigger tension headaches as well.

With most types of headaches chiropractic adjustments to the Cervical Spine are very effective in not only reducing the pain but also improving the underlying cause of the headaches. The adjustment improves the alignment of the spine and reduces the inflammation to the nerve roots causing the duration and frequency of the headaches to decrease.
